How we use the information we collect

How we use the information we collect depends in part on the Services you use, how you use them, and the preferences you have communicated to us. The following are the specific purposes for which we use the information we collect about you.

To provide the Services and personalize your experience: We use your information to provide the Services to you, including to process transactions with you, provide customer support, and operate, maintain and improve the Services. Our Services also include customized features that personalize your experience, enhance your productivity and improve your ability to collaborate effectively with others by automatically analyzing activities to provide search results, activity feeds, notifications, connections and recommendations that are most relevant to you. For example, we may use your stated job title and activity to return search results that we believe are relevant to your job function. We may use your email domain to infer your affiliation with a particular organization or industry to customize the content and experience you receive on our websites. When you use multiple Services, we combine information about you and your activities to provide an integrated experience, such as to allow you to find information from one Service while searching on another or to present relevant product information as you travel through our websites. Based on your interactions with different products and broader advertisements, we will personalize your experience and tailor our communications and offers to you.

To communicate with you about the Services: We use your contact information to send transactional communications via email and within the Services in response to your comments, questions and requests.

To protect our legitimate business interests and legal rights: When required by law or when we believe it is necessary to protect our legal rights, interests and the interests of others, we use your information in connection with legal claims, compliance, regulatory and audit functions and disclosures in connection with the acquisition, merger or sale of a business.

With your consent: we use information about you when you have given us your consent to do so for a specific purpose not mentioned above. For example, we may publish testimonials or featured customer stories to promote the Services, with your permission.

Legal basis for processing (for EEA users):

If you are an individual in the European Economic Area (EEA), we collect and process information about you only when we have a lawful basis to do so in accordance with applicable EU laws. The legal basis depends on the Services you use and how you use them. This means that we collect and use your information only when:

We need it to provide the Services to you, including to operate the Services, to provide customer support and custom features, and to protect the security of the Services;

It satisfies a legitimate interest (which is not overridden by your data protection interests), such as research and development, to market and promote the Services and to protect our legal rights and interests;

You give us your consent to do so for a specific purpose;

We need to process your data to comply with a legal obligation.

If you have consented to us using your information for a specific purpose, you have the right to change your mind at any time, but this will not affect any processing that has already taken place. When we use your information because we or a third party (e.g., your employer) have a legitimate interest in doing so, you have the right to object to that use, although, in some cases, this may mean that you no longer use the Services.

How we share the information we collect

We build collaboration tools and we want them to work well for you. This means sharing information through the Services and with certain third parties. We share the information we collect about you in the ways described below, including in connection with possible business transfers. We are not in the business of selling information about you to advertisers or other third parties.

How we store and protect the information we collect

Security and storage of information
We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect the information we store.
While we implement safeguards designed to protect your information, no security system is impenetrable and due to the inherent nature of the Internet, we cannot guarantee that information, during transmission over the Internet or while stored on our systems or otherwise in our care, will be absolutely safe from intrusion by others.

How long we keep the information

The length of time we retain the information we collect about you depends on the type of information, as described in more detail below. After that time, we will either delete or de-identify your information or, if this is not possible (for example, because the information has been stored in backup files), we will securely store your information and isolate it from further use. until elimination is possible.

Information you share on the Services: If your account is deactivated or disabled, some of your information and the content you have provided will remain to allow your team members or other users to make full use of the Services. For example, we still show the messages you sent to the users who received them and we still show the content you provided, but when requested, details that can identify you will be removed.

Marketing Information: If you have elected to receive marketing emails from us, we retain information about your marketing preferences for a reasonable period of time from the last date you expressed interest in our Services, such as when you last opened an email from us. We retain information derived from cookies and other tracking technologies for a reasonable period of time from the date such information was created.

How to access and control your information

You have certain options available to you when it comes to your information. Below is a summary of these options, how to exercise them and their limitations.

Your options:

You have the right to request a copy of your information, to object to our use of your information (including for marketing purposes), to request deletion or restriction of your information, or to request your information in a structured electronic format.

Your request and choices may be limited in certain cases: for example, if complying with your request would reveal information about another person, or if you request deletion of information that we are not permitted by law or if we have compelling legitimate interests to preserve. Where you have asked us to share data with third parties, for example, by installing third party applications, you should contact those third party service providers directly to remove or restrict your information. If you have unresolved concerns, you may have the right to file a complaint with a data protection authority in the country where you live, where you work or where you feel your rights have been infringed.
Opting Out of Receiving Communications: You may opt out of receiving promotional communications from us by using the unsubscribe link found in each email, by updating your email preferences in your Service account settings menu or by contacting us as indicated below to have us remove your contact information from our promotional email list or registration database. Even after you opt out of receiving promotional messages from us, you will continue to receive transactional messages from us related to our Services. You can opt out of receiving some notification messages in your account settings. Please note that you will continue to receive generic ads.
Turn off cookie controls: the relevant browser-based cookie controls are described in our Cookie and Tracking Notice.
Send “Do Not Track” signals: Some browsers have built-in “Do Not Track” (DNT) features that can send a signal to websites you visit indicating that you do not want to be tracked. Because there is not yet a common understanding of how to interpret the DNT signal, our Services do not currently respond to browser DNT signals. You can use the range of other tools we provide to control data collection and use, including the ability to opt out of receiving marketing from us as described above.
